It’s a simple question with a complicated answer. Unfortunately it all comes down to a variety of factors including your insurance provider, your specific policy, the type of drug rehab you’re seeking and even the rehab facility itself. Do you have drug rehab insurance coverage? We’ll show you how to find the answer.
Research the Rehab Center You’re Considering
First things first. Regardless of whether you have drug rehab insurance coverage or not, you’ll first want to make sure the program you’re looking at is able to work with your provider. Keep in mind that your provider being on the list is not necessarily a guarantee that coverage is possible. The reverse is also true. If you don’t see your insurance company listed, go ahead and call the drug treatment center anyway. There’s still a chance you can work something out, but you won’t know until you call. Before you do that, though, you’ve got more research to do.

Ask Your Insurance Company about Your Drug Rehab Insurance Coverage
No two insurance policies are exactly alike. So, you’re going to need to do some research into the details of your specific provider and policy. You can do this by reviewing your benefits guide, but the best way to know for sure is to call the company directly and speak to a representative. Plenty of insurance plans now cover drug addiction rehab, but there are other variables to consider, such as the type of treatment.
Call Your Addiction Rehab Center
Now that you’re familiar with your own insurance policy and the list of accepted insurance companies at your rehab center, pick up the phone and give them a call. An admissions specialist will be happy to help you determine the extent of your coverage and the best way to work with you and your provider.
What if Your Insurance Company Denies Your Claim for Rehab Coverage?
Even if your insurance provider offers alcohol or drug rehab coverage, there is still a chance that your claim may be denied. In this case, you may need to file an appeal, and possibly offer proof that rehab is medically necessary. Typically, this involves writing an appeals letter or filling out an appeals form. Again, you’ll need to follow the procedure as described by your provider.
Ask About Rehab Financing or Lending Programs
If, for whatever reason, you are unable to make arrangements with your insurance provider, some addiction rehab centers offer a lending or financing program. While The Raleigh House offers drug rehabilitation loans, not all recovery centers do.
